LASTMA Unveils 25th Anniversary Emblem: Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence

On April 29, 2025, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) held a press briefing at its headquarters in Oshodi to unveil the emblem for its 25th-anniversary celebrations. This event marked the beginning of a series of activities planned to commemorate LASTMA’s 25 years of service to Lagos State.

The briefing brought together key stakeholders, including Mr. Olushola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, and Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of LASTMA, to reflect on the agency’s journey and outline its future aspirations.

The unveiling of the LASTMA@25 emblem was more than a ceremonial moment—it was a celebration of the agency’s growth since its inception in 2000. Mr. Giwa, in his keynote address, emphasized the dual purpose of the anniversary: reflection and rededication. 

“This milestone allows us to look back at our achievements and recommit to our mission of ensuring safe and efficient traffic management in Lagos,” he stated. He praised LASTMA’s transformation from a traditional traffic agency into a robust incident management authority, a testament to its adaptability and resilience.

Mr. Bakare-Oki, the General Manager, echoed these sentiments, spotlighting the dedication of LASTMA’s officers. “Our staff have been the backbone of this agency, working tirelessly to keep Lagos moving,” he said. He also hinted at the exciting lineup of events planned for the main anniversary celebrations, scheduled for July 15 to July 17, 2025.
